MCA chief appointed adviser for Chinese investments - Zahid

MCA president Wee Ka Siong has been appointed investment adviser for Chinese nationals and companies in Malaysia, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced today.

“Today, I wish to officially announce that the MCA president has been appointed as the adviser for Chinese nationals and companies, serving under me,” he said.

Zahid, who is BN chairperson, announced this when officiating the MCA annual general assembly this morning at San Choon Hall in Wisma MCA, Kuala Lumpur.

Besides that, he expressed hope that BN will win more seats in the next general election if it can put “petty issues” aside.

Better results for BN in the 16th general elections will also follow if members of the coalition government are able to set aside past differences of opinion, he added.

He pointed to the results of the recent Nenggiri by-election in Kelantan, which Umno won with a 3,352 majority.

“If BN works hard, if the election and by-election strategies are managed well, if we put aside our problems among ourselves, even in the opposition’s states, BN can still win successfully, if we can defend this,” he said.

BN also made a strong showing at the Mahkota by-election in Johor last month, with Kluang Umno Youth chief Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah trouncing Perikatan Nasional with a 20,648-vote majority.

However, the victory sparked a salvo of friendly fire between BN and Pakatan Harapan parties, including on Chinese voter turnout and forming a coalition government in Johor.
